Christmas Tree Puff Pastry

Ingredients
- 2 sheet of a fresh puff pastry
- 1 egg to the top
- 2 tablespoon jam
- 2 tablespoon sugar
Tools
- a pattern in a shape of a Christmas tree
- a baking paper
- a brush
- a small bawl (to beat an egg)
- a sheet pan
- a butter knife
Instructions
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Step 2. Draw a shape of Christmas tree on a carton and cut it out.
Step 3. Put a baking paper on a sheet pan, place one of the puff pastry sheets and a pattern of Christmas tree on the top.
Step 4. Take a butter knife and cut your Christmas tree out. Do the same with a second sheet of a puff pastry.
Step 5. Spread a jam over one of the puff pastry sheets.
Step 6. Place the other cut out sheet of puff pastry on the top.
Step 7. Carefully cut slits on both sides spacing them about 2 cm apart. Leave a center intact and remove the excess jam from a baking paper, otherwise it might burn in the oven.
Step 8. Twist each strip of pastry twice, pressing the ends into the baking paper.
Step 9. Beat an egg and brush pastry with it.
Step 10. Sprinkle some sugar on a top.
Step 11. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
NOTE: The filling may vary from the sweet (chocolate) to the salty (pesto).
